Omicron Statistics showed a slowdown in Canada's job growth in January.

According to the results of Canada's Labour Force Survey, the country shed 200,000 jobs in January.

In January, companies of Canada were forced to close due to an increase in Omicron illnesses. Accordingly, 200,000 positions were lost in Canada, and joblessness took off to 6.5 percent.

Statistics The most recent Labor Force Survey in Canada covers the week of January 9 to 15 and includes labor statistics from across the country. Capacity limitations in retail outlets and the shutdown of restaurants, pubs, music halls, and gyms were among the public health measures in place at the time. Many schools have likewise made the progress to web based learning.

Ontario and Quebec were the two provinces that had the most job losses. The hospitality and food service industries were the worst damaged. Youth (15–24 years old) and core-aged women (25–54 years old) were more likely than other groups to work in closed sectors. In January, the employment rate for core-aged adults who identify as members of visible minority groups fell by the same amount (-1.6 percentage points to 79.8%) as it did for those who are not visible minority and not Indigenous (-1.5 percentage points to 84.6%). (Not seasonally adjusted).

For the first time in nine months, unemployment has risen. According to the December Labour Force Survey, Canada's unemployment rate stood at 6% before Omicron. Impermanent cutbacks and people who were scheduled to begin working sooner rather than later contributed altogether to the increment in joblessness last month. The quantity of people looking for work has been very steady.

In an email to CIC News, Jim Mitchell, president of LHH Canada, stated, "There are multiple causes causing the bigger than predicted loss in Canadian jobs, including the closing of in-person schooling, indoor eating, and entertainment in some regions." "We are witnessing a decline in both full-time and part-time employment with one of the highest recorded unemployment rates since April 2021, although it is unclear if these drops are associated with January-related seasonal layoffs and voluntary resignations."

The Omicron model created a "larger-than-expected impact" in the Canadian economy, according to RBC senior economist Nathan Janzen. However, he believes the harm will be short-lived if governments reduce public health regulations.

"Notwithstanding the way that the January labour market information, gives off an impression of being especially horrible, we anticipate that the bounce back should start in February, with infection spread and regulation estimate previously diminishing in areas of the country (counting Ontario and Quebec)," Janzen expressed.

Canada Immigration: How Canada Utilizes Personal Information Acquired at the Border

The Entry/Exit program enables Canadian border services to share information about travelers with Immigration Canada. Once enough air carriers are on-boarded, IRCC anticipates overstay signs for temporary residents to start displaying in Entry/Exit search results in November 2022.

Since February 2019, the Canadian border has been able to gather basic passenger information and communicate it with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada under the Entry/Exit Program (IRCC).

The information is used by the IRCC to verify residency requirements for permanent residence applications, work permits, study permits, and Canadian citizenship applications. Some programmes require candidates to spend a particular amount of time in Canada. Permanent residents, for example, must have been physically present in Canada for 1,095 days out of the five years preceding to the date of their application in order to apply for citizenship.

Get a free Canada assessment form

The Entry/Exit Program allows IRCC to query the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) for passenger information via the Global Case Management Technology (GCMS), which is the system IRCC utilises to handle immigration applications.

What kind of data is available?

For the time being, the Entry/Exit programme is only available to visitors arriving in Canada by land or air. It is not currently possible to go to Canada by sea or train. Through the Entry/Exit programme, IRCC has access to the following information:

• surnames and given names

• aliases

• your birthdate

• gender

• country of origin

• citizenship country

• passport information

• the entry/exit date

The information is stored in the GCMS, which IRCC can utilise to manage the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), the Citizenship Act, and the Canadian Passport Order as needed.

How the IRCC makes use of entry/exit data

IRCC can utilise Entry/Exit data to:

• verify residency requirements in support of applications for grants of citizenship (CIT) or permanent resident cards, according to the government website;

• check to see whether a temporary resident applicant has already overstayed their entry time in Canada;

• aid in the examination of a person's eligibility for a Canadian travel document;

• confirm that the sponsors are Canadian citizens;

• verify spouses' and partners' residence in Canada under the spouse or common-law partner class;

• check to see if a refugee claimant used their travel papers to enter Canada; and

• Assist with fraud investigations involving immigration, citizenship, and passport/travel document program.

Client agreement is not required for IRCC to query passenger entrance and departure information. They have access to the material if it is necessary for an IRCC officer to make a decision about a specific programme. Only IRCC jobs that determine application decisions have access to the GCMA's Entry/Exit data.

Officers of the IRCC are only permitted to provide entrance and exit information if it is required to run the IRPA and is covered by an information-sharing agreement. CBSA must oversee any disclosure not protected by a memorandum of understanding or other information-sharing arrangement.

All authorised CBSA workers have access to the data since CBSA owns it.

An access to information request under the Privacy Act allows travellers to obtain a copy of their personal travel history. Travelers can contact the CBSA to seek a correction.

Applications for temporary residency

For the following application categories, IRCC can request Entry/Exit information:

• visas for temporary residents

• Permits for temporary residence

• logs of visitors

• Permits and renewals for work permits

• study permits and renewals of study permits

• travel authorizations via electronic means (eTAs)

The data on entry and exit can be utilised to see if a foreign individual has previously overstayed their visa in Canada. This is referred to by the government as "overstay monitoring." It starts when a visitor enters Canada and concludes when they leave. When the GCMS is queried, a "overstay indication" will display as a ticked box if the applicant has overstayed their visit.

Once a sufficient number of air carriers are on-boarded, IRCC anticipates overstay signs for temporary residents to begin displaying in Entry/Exit search results in November 2022.

Applications for permanent residency

IRCC has access to entry/exit information for the following permanent residency application types:

• cards for permanent residents

• travel papers for permanent residents

• Refugees from other countries

• Sponsorships for family classes

The information can be used to illustrate periods of time spent in and outside of Canada, allowing IRCC to determine whether or not residency has been maintained. IRCC may conduct an Entry/Exit enquiry in addition to residence requirements to examine misrepresentation or revocation of Canadian papers.

Entry/Exit data can be used to assess if a sponsor is resident in Canada for family sponsorship applications.

Applications for citizenship

Exit/Exit data may be utilised in citizenship applications to:

• ensure that physical presence requirements for citizenship awards are met;

• aid in the verification of other criteria, such as probable permanent resident status loss, the necessity for applicants to produce foreign police certificates, or deception;

• confirm that the physical presence conditions for reinstatement of citizenship have been met; and

• provide assistance in circumstances when Canadian citizenship has been revoked.

Future Canadian migrants dread leaving occupations as IRCC manages excess

Foreign Workers in Canada are losing lawful status, as Immigration Canada defers greeting rounds to handle accumulations.

Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC's) stop on Express Entry solicitations to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) applicants since September is compelling some to stop their positions and even leave Canada.

Free Canada Immigration Assessment Form

These competitors have something like one year of Canadian work insight and around 90% are as of now in Canada. During the pandemic, IRCC gave a greater number of solicitations to CEC applicants than some other Express Entry oversaw the program. IRCC welcomed CEC contender to apply for Canadian migration about like clockwork, and on a huge scale. In mid-2021, the office welcomed each and every CEC competitor in the Express Entry pool to apply. This draw brought about in excess of 27,000 solicitations, and was essential for IRCC's work to land a record 401,000 rookies in 2021.

Sasha (last name kept), an advertising proficient in Toronto, said she felt specific she would get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) when she put her profile in the Express Entry pool in September. Express Entry chips away at a focuses framework called the Exhaustive Positioning Framework (CRS). IRCC welcomes the top-scoring possibility to apply for Canadian migration through every other week Express Entry draws.

Sasha had a CRS score of 476, all that could possibly be needed to get an ITA in any CEC-explicit draw held in 2021 preceding the interruption.

"I was 100 percent sure that in about fourteen days I will get it," Sasha told CIC News, "Then, at that point, it's not occurring, and afterward it's not reoccurring and at regular intervals I'm getting increasingly frustrated."

Without the ITA, she can't have any significant bearing for PR as an Express Entry candidate. After her work grant lapses, she will lose the option to work in Canada, except if she can observe another work grant or long-lasting residency pathway.

At the point when Express Entry applicants get an ITA, they have 60 days to react with their conventional movement application. When they get an Affirmation of Receipt (AOR) from IRCC, assuming they are in Canada, they can utilize it to apply for a Connecting Open Work License (BOWP). They can't get a BOWP assuming they are applying from outside Canada, regardless of whether they are applying as CEC applicants.

The BOWP permits them to continue to work in Canada while they hold on to get a choice on their application. It is particularly helpful for impermanent occupants who are in Canada on work allows that can't be re-established or expanded like the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) or the Functioning Occasion Visa.

In the same way as other CEC competitors, Sasha is in Canada on a PGWP. She emphasizes that if her legal status expires, she will be forced to leave her job and must either stay in Canada on a visitor's visa and live off her investment earnings, or return to Ukraine, which she prefers not to do.

"Assuming I'm here and receive the greeting," Sasha explained, "I can apply for a connecting work licence and keep working." "In any event, presuming I am [in Ukraine] at the time of application, I am not prepared to return. I should stay there for around a year to wait for my PR card... It'll be eight months, a year, maybe more, maybe less... It's the vulnerability that makes me nervous."

An as of late let inward update out of November proposed that IRCC would stop draws for CEC, Government Talented Specialist Program (FSWP) and Administrative Gifted Exchange Program (FSTP) competitors until it could satisfy its handling guideline of a half year for all Express Entry oversaw programs.

The notice said that since the Express Entry accumulation was sufficiently high to meet the movement targets recently set for 2021-2023, IRCC would not have to hold a draw for CEC, FSWP, nor FSTP up-and-comers "for at minimum the principal half of 2022." Express Entry draws would just proceed for Commonplace Chosen one Program (PNP) up-and-comers.

CIC News addressed two individuals for this story who mentioned to stay mysterious. Both are PGWP holders in Canada, one qualified for CEC, the other qualified for the FSWP. FSWP draws have not been held in Canada since December 2020.

"I'm grateful to Canadians for allowing us to call this great nation home and to companies for allowing us to work to fulfil our Canadian dream," the FSWP rising star, who works for a Saskatchewan district, wrote in an email. "How difficult is it for anybody to comprehend that we (FSW inland) are now here, working and contributing to Canada's economy, just like CEC candidates?"

The CEC up-and-comer says she and her better half don't have the foggiest idea how they will oversee costs in Canada assuming their PGWP qualification runs out and they are compelled to stop their positions. A PGWP holder who has skipped a Canadian post-optional has to pay understudy requirements worldwide.

"We have put away such a lot of cash figuring we would be a long-lasting inhabitant here," the CEC up-and-comer said in a telephone meet. "If you went back till last year, CEC was the top choice for international understudies who could actually settle here."

How this occurred

In 2020, the pandemic constrained the boundary to close and IRCC activities to close down. Therefore, Canada just conceded 184,000 novices in 2020, far shy of its movement targets.

To make up for the missed year, Canada has set a lofty goal of admitting 401,000 new workers by 2021. Of these, 108,000 were relied upon to come through the Express Entry.

To meet these objectives in the midst of movement limitations, IRCC welcomed, just CEC and PNP applicants in its Express Entry draws. No FSWP or FSTP up-and-comers were welcomed in 2021, except if they had a commonplace assignment.

Canada likewise made another migration pathway for fundamental specialists and worldwide understudy graduates, the Transitory Home to Extremely durable Home (TR to PR) pathway. This would let the government bring in around 90,000 newcomers who had been working in Canada during the outbreak.

It was this system to land in-Canada candidates that prompted the excesses, as indicated by another IRCC update. It said that zeroing in on just inland candidates "prompted huge stock development, making a build-up of uses, and handling times in overabundance of the help principles for every single monetary classification."

The drive to resettle Afghanistan displaced people additionally drove IRCC assets from handling monetary and spousal sponsorship candidates. All things being equal, Canada keeps on conceding Afghan displaced people at a stream. Migration Priest, Sean Fraser has said 7,000 Afghans have been resettled since the Taliban dominated. Canada has vowed to take in 40,000.

Canada met its objective of 401,000 newbies in 2021, yet not without an excess of around 1.8 million candidates. As of December, the Express Entry overabundance was more than 119,000, down from almost 138,000 in October.

Meeting the record-breaking objective by focusing on inland applicants included some significant pitfalls to Outland up-and-comers, some who had applied even before the pandemic. Canada shuts the boundary to insignificant travel on Walk 18, 2020. Going to initiate a long-lasting residency status was not viewed as fundamental travel at that point. Subsequently, individuals who were supported for extremely durable home after Walk 18 from outside Canada and the U.S. were not permitted to cross the line and become extremely durable inhabitants. This intended that from Walk 2020 until June 2021, abroad specialists who got supported for extremely durable home were not permitted to come to Canada. Many saw their movement, reports terminate at this time. Right up 'till the present time, IRCC has still not handled these individuals.

This conclusion of the line likewise added to stock development, IRCC said. FSWP up-and-comers are generally outside of Canada when they apply, and before the pandemic, they made up the biggest portion of Express Entry foreigners. By zeroing in on in-Canada candidates, and shutting the line to talented specialists, the FSWP presently has the biggest overabundance in the financial class.

Because of the build-up, the November instructions says CEC candidates could need to stand by around eight months, and FSWP applicants 20 months or more to get a choice, going against the public authority's site, which actually says assessed handling times are a half year. To return to the handling standard, IRCC says it should cut Express Entry excesses by the greater part prior to welcoming new contender to apply.

"I simply imagine that, but since of how the public authority has treated, things they have executed last year to accommodate their share implies they have wrecked things for some individuals who have been working here and adding to the economy during pandemic," Roxanne (last name eliminated), a CEC up-and-comer, told CIC News.

Roxanne, who shows English in Toronto, presented her profile in November, and is sitting in the pool with a CRS score of 491. She says her score will drop five focuses after her birthday in the Spring, and by then her non-sustainable Working Occasion Visa will be terminated. She is attempting to apply for another transitory work license to ideally profit from kept up with status, yet she says nothing is ensured.

"We need answers so we can anticipate our future," Roxanne said.

How IRCC is treating it

In a January 20 phone call, Immigration Minister Fraser mentioned the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) Immigration Section's contribution on making a different pathway for worldwide alumni with Canadian work insight. The CBA Immigration Section is a relationship of movement legal counselors that talks with the public authority on the most proficient method to further develop the migration framework.

As per a CBA part, the pastor is investigating unmistakable arrangements outside of Express Entry for PGWP holders, considering that many qualified CEC competitors will be probably not going to get ITAs soon.

While there is still no data on when FSWP and CEC draws will continue, the pastor is looking for interview from the CBA on pathways to long-lasting residency for global understudy graduates with Canadian work insight. Individuals are likewise considering pushing for a transitory augmentation of the PGWP, like the one IRCC offered the year before.

The pastor's command letter calls for Fraser to extend pathways to super durable home for global understudies and transitory unfamiliar laborers, recommending that observing an answer is fundamentally important for his term.

Study shows that there is still a lot of interest in immigrating to Canada.

Nearly 93 percent of those polled thought the epidemic would have "no influence" or make them "more interested" in obtaining permanent residency in Canada.

According to a recent study of over 13,000 potential immigrants, there is still a lot of interest in moving to Canada.

World Education Services (WES) Canada, an authorized supplier of Educational Credential Assessments (ECA) for Canadian immigration, performed the survey.

Free Canada Immigration Assessment Form

In 2020, WES surveyed ECA applicants to assess the influence of the Coronavirus pandemic on their chances of obtaining permanent residency in Canada.

WES conducted a follow-up survey in August 2021 to compare responses and evaluate if the changing pandemic scenario had influenced respondents' desires to move to Canada.

According to WES, the number of people interested in coming to Canada has been unchanged since 2020. Nearly half of those polled claimed the epidemic will have no effect on their intentions to immigrate. Nearly 93% thought the epidemic would either have "no influence" or "increase their interest."

In the 2021 poll, 33% of respondents stated they believed the pandemic will have a negative impact on employment availability in Canada, down from 45% in 2020. Meanwhile, 35% of respondents believe the epidemic will have a favourable influence on employment availability, compared to only 27% in 2020.

Because of the Canadian government's and health-care system's abilities to control the pandemic and care for COVID-19 patients, 58 per cent of respondents said they were more interested in immigrating to Canada.

Only 21% said the pandemic would cause them to postpone their intentions to immigrate to Canada, compared to 35% in 2020.

On the other side, 22% of respondents stated they want to immigrate to a nation other than Canada, up from 13% in 2020.

Even if they faced difficult economic or personal situations, respondents expressed a strong desire to achieve Canadian permanent residence status. For example, 74% responded that an economic downturn in Canada would either have no effect or strengthen their desire to become permanent residents. This is an increase from the 69 percent who said the same thing in the 2020 poll.

They were also more hopeful about career prospects in Canada than in their home nations throughout the epidemic. COVID-19 would have little or a favourable impact on jobs in their occupation or industry, according to 77 percent of respondents, compared to 69 per cent in their home country. Only 23% thought it would have a negative impact, down from 28% who thought it would have a negative impact on jobs in their occupation or sector in Canada in 2020.

Travel limitations, a large rise in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) processing periods, and a drop in jobs in Canada were the top three reasons stated by persons contemplating delaying immigration to Canada.

Before the epidemic, Canada was planning to accept additional 341,000 immigrants in 2020, largely from lower-income countries. To combat the spread of COVID, it enforced travel restrictions, resulting in a drop in new immigrant arrivals to barely 184,000 that year.

The majority of the travel restrictions have subsequently been relaxed. The epidemic, however, has raised the IRCC's backlog to 1.8 million applications, slowing processing procedures. In 2021, Canada's economy recovered, and the country now had the largest employment vacancy rate on record, with approximately one million open positions.

In 2021, Canada aimed to welcome 401,000 new immigrants, mostly by converting those already living in the country to permanent residents. By February 14, the Canadian government will unveil its revised Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024. The plan will include the amount of new immigrants that Canada hopes to welcome this year, as well as the categories into which they will fall.

According to the current plan, 411,000 new immigrants are expected to arrive this year, with nearly 60% of them falling into the lower economic class.

How to sponsor your Indian spouse to Canada?

If your spouse or common-law partner lives in India, follow these steps to become a sponsor.

Are you looking for information on how to sponsor your Indian spouse for Canadian immigration?

Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their foreign spouses, common-law partners, dependent children, and conjugal partners through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

You can sponsor someone from India for permanent residency (PR) in Canada if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is married to them or has lived with them for one year as common-law partners.

Obtaining permanent residency in Canada will allow your Indian spouse to live and work in Canada, as well as access to health care and social assistance.

In order to be eligible for family sponsorship in Canada, both of you must fulfil a number of crucial standards.

First and foremost, you must consider the age restriction for sponsors, who must be at least 18 years old.

Spousal sponsorship has no financial requirements, but you must demonstrate that you have a strategy to financially support your family, including yourself and the sponsored individual. You can do so by demonstrating that you have enough income, savings, or assets to support your entire family. Furthermore, unless it is due to a handicap, those receiving social assistance are not eligible for sponsorship.

On the other side, your Indian spouse or partner will be investigated for probable inadmissibility and criminal convictions.

Providing the needed documentation to verify that your relationship with the sponsored individual is real is one of the most crucial elements in the process of sponsoring a spouse to come to Canada. If you are married, you will be required to present certain papers, including a marriage certificate, among others. Legally executed marriages in India are typically lawful in Canada. In place of a marriage certificate, you must produce documented, documentation of your 12 month cohabitation term if you are in a common-law partnership.

Although most documents produced in India are in English, you will need to offer a translation if you have older documents that were issued in Hindi or another language. These translations must be validated and fulfil IRCC specifications.

If the documents supplied are insufficient proof of a genuine connection, or if an officer wishes to examine updated documentation regarding cohabitation or the continuation of your relationship while living apart, they may request more information or schedule an interview with you.

Keep in mind that the officer reviewing your application has discretionary authority, and cases are examined on an individual basis. As a result, it's critical that you submit a strong sponsorship package with as much supporting documentation as possible.

The Canadian Sponsorship Process: What You Need to Know

You must apply to the Immigration and Refugee Control Commission (IRCC) at the federal level.

For permanent resident (PR) status, you must submit two separate application components: your sponsorship section and your spouse's or partner's portion. The two components must be submitted jointly to IRCC.

You'll also have to pay IRCC a charge for applying for family sponsorship.

You must ensure that your application is sent to the proper address. This information may be found in the government's sponsorship handbook, which you can download.

You can stay in India if you are a Canadian citizen, but you must show that you intend to travel to Canada with your husband after he or she secures a permanent residence visa. However, if you are a permanent resident of Canada, you must live in Canada to sponsor your spouse or partner.

The time it takes IRCC to process a sponsorship application is usually around 12 months.
